The Donald remains on top of the Car.

"You know, the President is thinking about signing an executive order where he wants to take your guns away. You hear about this? Not gonna happen. That won't happen. But that's a tough one; I think that's a tough one for him to do. There's plenty of executive orders being signed, you know that. And we can't let that go on." Trump, the man leading the CNN/ORC poll of Republican Presidential candidates said that at a rally in South Carolina last night.

Citizens of this country, men and women who have the Constitutional right, who were born with that right, thanks to the color of their skin, believed him.

President Obama has not announced plans to sign such an order and I think that if he thought it was possible to use an executive order to deal with our out of control gun culture, he would have done so after Sandy Hook, when our duly elected Congress caved to the NRA and left us citizens to fend for ourselves.

So, the new poll has Trump and Carson leading the field of clowns. Trump has 27% and Carson 22%. Fiorina lost 11 points and is now at 4% and in 7th place. Perhaps the lunatic fringe finally realized that she has not been telling them the truth about Hewlett Packard and Planned Parenthood etc. More importantly she lost support across the board, college grads, women, men and independents.

Bush and Rubio are tied for 3rd with 8% support, Huckabee and Rand at 5%. Fiorina, Christie and Paul each have 4% support with Kasich at 3. Santorum and Graham, just looking at 2 and 1% respectively.

So, what do these poll results supply, besides lots of questions? Yes, the election is 1 year and 10 days away from today, but should not The Donald and Ben Carson be in single digits by now? Did the pundits expect them to be still leading the field of contestants? Did they expect the anointed one (Bush) to be 19 and 14 points behind those 2? Give them truth serum and they will say no. Absolutely they did not. Bush was supposed to be the candidate of the Republican Establishment, he has the name, and he has the resume.

What has gone wrong? The Tea Party, The Far Right Wing of the GOP is driving the party farther and farther away from the center.  In 2007 and 2008, the GOP masters sat and chortled as candidate Barack Obama was harassed and disrespected. They did nothing to stop the Birthers (encouraged by whom? The Donald).  They fully expected McCain and Romney to win the election.  And after those elections, the disrespect continued. The base watched and learned and the Party is paying the price.

And so, today 1 year and 10 days before the next presidential election when the leading Democratic candidates are a Woman with the last name of Clinton, and a Senator who self identifies as a Socialist, the GOP is in trouble. So much so that the Chairman of the RNC is warning that it is a 2016 win or bust for the party.

  1. I can't decide who's the more established and boring Republican in the news lately. But from what I've seen, it's either Jeb Bush or Paul Ryan. Both are being heavily manipulated, and promised who knows what, by these secret backroom political groups who really run these things...One for the Presidency, the other for House Speaker. They're trying to stack the deck in my opinion.

I'm so glad what's going on in politics today is not that normal, same old established routine. Who says, what happened yesterday should be the way tomorrow always is?

  2. This will give new meaning to the term "Rump Administration".
