Iowa Poll = Carson — Benghazi = Fail

Had Speaker Boehner not changed his mind (no one seems to know why) we would not have spent yesterday watching a charade aka The Benghazi hearing.

I for one would have paid more attention to the Quinnipiac University Poll that has the good Dr. Ben Carson in first place in Iowa, the site of the first GOP caucus. Carson is polling at 28% and The Donald at 20.

In 2000 SCOTUS made George W. Bush President of the United States, in 2014-15 the Republican Conservatives and want to be king makers expected Jeb Bush to be the candidate in the 2016 election.  Jeb is polling at 5%, 1% point less than Rand Paul and Carly Fiorina. Yes, you are right; everyone else is ‘just looking’.

Why is Carson suddenly on top?
“It’s Ben Carson’s turn in the spotlight” Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the QU Poll said.
He continued by saying that the results show that his support is strong among the state’s sizeable white evangelicals and among women.

What happens if he stays in the spotlight? Is America ready for another Black President? One with the views held by Carson?  I don’t think so.

Every time I think about the Republican candidates from 2012 and the current passengers in the 2016 Clown Car, I am speechless. I have thought for several years that we are watching the demise of the Party of Lincoln.  With the arrival of the Tea Party, I believe the end is closer than anyone imagined.

I am going to guess that just about every American and interested onlookers around the world, know that one of our political parties, the one that currently controls 2/3rds of our government, did a masterful job of embarrassing themselves and us yesterday.

If you missed it, Hillary Clinton appeared before The Select Committee on Benghazi and testified for almost 11 hours.  I say almost because there were some breaks. By the 9th hour, even though her makeup was cracking, she was not.
She won that encounter hands down, and the response of the Chairman when asked if anything new was learned cemented the decision that anyone watching knew, no they did not.
Uh," Gowdy paused, and continued "I think some of Jimmy Jordan's questioning -- well, when you say new today, we knew some of that already. We knew about the emails," he said. "In terms of her testimony? I don't know that she testified that much differently today than she has the previous time she testified."
That ladies and gentlemen was what we got after 11 hours and lots and lots of money down the sewer.

Of course there were the sideshows, Gowdy and Cummings yelling at each other.
Congressman Pompeo asking incredibly stupid questions, i.e. did the Ambassador have your home number, cellphone number, fax number, home address. Can you see it? Over 200 ambassadors scattered around the world, calling SecState at home.

And my favorite question, Representative Roby, asked the Secretary if it was true that she had gone home the night of the attack.  Was she alone at home and was she alone all night. Must have been the cleaned scrub teeny bopper face earnestly asking such a stupid question, because Clinton lost her composure and busted out laughing.  (Roby was not amused, I was.)
And that is what that committee deserves.  Derisive laughter.
